Karen Walker Therapies

About me

I’m a mother, Holistic Health Practitioner, KORE Therapist and highly experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) from Carlisle, with a  passion for promoting optimal health, well-being and independence. I specialise in working with children and adults of all ages experiencing difficulties engaging fully in their daily lives, due to a long term health condition, illness, injury or other difficulties that are impacting on them, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Who I Work With

I have 22 years experience of working in the NHS, in physical health and psychology settings and have a wealth of experience supporting clients aged from 0 to 90 years plus.

I work face to face and online supporting those with complex health needs, be those physical, psychological, educational or social, who may have a range of conditions including Persistent Pain, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Post Viral Fatigue, Phantom Limb Pain, Depression, General Anxiety Disorders, Worry, Sleep disorders and Neuro-diverse conditions  (Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Dyspraxia.

I work across a range of settings, having taught groups of adults and children, in schools and community settings Yoga Based Movement Therapy and Mindfulness, to enable them to develop lifelong skills to manage their physical and emotional health.

Bsc (Hons) Occupational Therapy 2008
KORE Therapy (MSK specialist) 2022

In 2021 I began working with a private OT company with babies, children and teenagers around Cumbria and set up in private practice as an OT, KORE Therapist and Holistic Health Practitioner in 2022.

I offer KORE (Musculoskeletal) Therapy, a ground-breaking treating and assessment system, which specialises in finding and treating the underlying root cause to illness, pain and injury. This doesn’t just deal with symptoms, it restores the health and well-being of my clients. This holistic therapy really compliments my existing skill set to help clients manage their own health.

Your Questions Answered

How do I work with you?

I offer a free 15 minute online consultation to explore your needs, and to establish if we’d be suited to working together. If we agree, we then organise a time and date to commence your first session and confirm where you’d like to attend; online, or in person in my session space in north Carlisle.

How much do sessions cost?

Sessions cost £75 per hour & £40 per half hour. Please note, first sessions are always 1 hour in duration to allow us to have sufficient time to explore the root cause of your difficulties. Sessions of EMDR also require a session duration of 1 hour to allow for time to effectively deliver this protocol.

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients I work with require a course of 6-12 sessions for optimum results, frequency and duration of which will vary depending upon their individual needs and budget. Some clients may also opt to access top-up sessions where they have experienced a recent, new trauma or where they are enduring some challenging life transitions.

How do I pay for a session?

Session payment is required 48 hours in advance of appointments and is made via bank transfer.

I can recommend Karen very highly. She is the best. Always gets the problem sorted, we have great chats aswell as treatment, so relaxing.  She is truly a great person and fabulous at what she does.

★★★★★

I am delighted to personally recommend Karen and her Kore treatments. My shoulder, spine and foot have benefitted. Then there was the joy of a working digestive system again.

★★★★★

I literally would not be able to function without KORE therapy- it has absolutely changed my life and Karen Walker Therapies is such a kind, caring and knowledgeable soul. I highly recommend. This isn’t a quick “have a massage and feel pain in a few days”, this will absolutely transform your life. I realise that it sounds too good to be true and that I’m overreacting but I truly mean it. I’d be lost without KORE.

★★★★★

After having 2 spinal operations, I was left with a lot of pain and stiffness in my legs and back and poor balance. Karen completed several KORE therapy sessions, and gave advice around certain postures and exercises. KORE therapy has really helped my walking, balance and general wellbeing and I would most definitely recommend KORE therapy to anyone.

I’ve slept so well the last few nights, best in about 2 years! Back and hip feel great. So enjoying a good night’s sleep and waking pain free. Definitely coming again, can hardly believe it, so grateful.

Thank you so much for yesterday, I feel top of the morning this morning, I rested last night and slept like a bug in a rug. My body feels symmetrical this morning, thank you Karen for doing such a good job.
